Bend approves massive 42-acre Ponderosa housing project with 371 new homes

BEND, Ore. — The Ponderosa Master Plan, a 42-acre housing development on Bend’s Southwest side, was approved by the Bend City Council Wednesday night.
The site along Highway 97 south of Ponderosa Street and north of Rocking Horse Road, will be the location of 371 new housing units, with a mixture of single family homes, townhomes and apartments. The land will be developed and annexed into the southwestern urban growth boundary expansion area.
“In order to keep up with demand and keep prices low, we need to about 34,000 more houses in the next 20 years,” Bend City Councilor Ariel Mendez said. “This is an opportunity to take a little bite out of that.”
